If personal belongings in the vehicle are damaged due to an accident

Escort (special coverage for personal belongings)

Your insurance policy covers you for damage to personal belongings contained, for example, in your trunk, resulting from collision, fire, theft, and other unforeseen accidents.

Notes:
  1. The amount of damages to be paid is calculated by the cost of replacing the goods with new items, minus the amount of depreciation based on the age of the items and their use. 5,000 yen is then deducted from this figure, representing the personal liability of the owner.
  2. This additional coverage is not applicable if you are already insured under the Lifestyle Coverage.
  3. Merchandise and other items not associated with personal belongings are not covered under the terms of this insurance.
Accident example : Loss of personal belongings
Place: in a car park near your house
Vehicle type : a domestic sedan
Background : You parked your vehicle in its place at the monthly parking lot, at around 10PM. The next morning at 7AM you return to the vehicle, and find that the door is unlocked. The locks are not broken, but you think it odd, so you look around the vehicle and find that the trunk has been opened and your expensive gold clubs have all been stolen. The only thing remaining is the golf bag, which was discarded near the car.

Temporary Driver Security Special Clauses

When this Special Clause is included, if gTemporary Driversh such as friends and unmarried children living on their own (does not include those with past marriage records), are involved in an accident, age-limit will not apply and compensation will be made.

– "Temporary Driver" refers to those who do NOT apply to any of the following:
  • (1) Named Insured.
  • (2) Spouse of Named Insured (including common-law marriage)
  • (3) Relatives living with Named Insured and/or Spouse of Named Insured (including common-law marriage)
  • (4) Employee who handles services of those mentioned above (not including domestic help).
This special clause can be included on policies where the insured vehicle is an owner-driver car (standard-sized, small-size or minicar), the Named Insured is an gindividualh and the driver age-limit is applied (21 and over, 26 and over, 30 and over compensation).

– This Special Clause shall become inapplicable if changes are made to the policy so that it no longer meets the Special Clauses requirements, such as the owner switching to a type of vehicle where the driver age-limit does not apply (e.g. owner-driven small size truck etc.).

Good for times like this!
You are returning from a round of golf and ask your colleague to drive, however he does not meet the driver age-limit of your policy.
